Becoming a second year means:

You have survived your PGY1 year!

… and now its your turn to teach your interns ( don’t forget how you first started and be patient)

Time to get over with you last step exam A.KA. STEP 3 (if you haven’t done so yet, and to PASS IT of course!)

…then start preparing for BOARDS (ABIM) –> highly recommend MKSAP and NEJM =) (learning never endssssssss)

Start preparing for your next step, updating your resume/CV. Start applications for fellowships (some fellowship applications start as early as Oct of PGY2)

Start collecting recommendation letters (it will take time for your attendings to write time!)

 

Things to think about:  Disability insurance *** to be continued

 

Don’t forget to take a few minutes everyday to give yourself a pat on your back!
