In my usual 24-hour day during Internal Medicine wards
12 hours in the hospital (7 – 7, 6 days a week)
2 hours to commute
3 hours to cram everything else in (study/shower/eat)
…then I am left with 7 hours to sleep before doing this all over again
It is always difficult to find an extra hour to go to the gym, my two time slots would be 0400AM or 2100PM, not gonna work …(excuses… ) but there are many ways to add in those steps and increase your heart rate while in the hospital
- Walk the stairs instead of taking the elevators, aim to reach 10,000 steps a day =)
- Do 10 squats & push up during a quick break
- Follow a quick 10-min work out session from YouTube or exercise app after all the chartings are completed and all patients are taken care of
- Eat healthily, bring your own meal if possible
